The Minister of Education, Sorin Costreie, presented the balance sheet of the first week of his mandate, in which he had meetings with teachers, pupils, students and parents. The official says he wants stronger and more autonomous schools and stresses that changes in the system must not only target legislation and organisation, but also mindsets.
“We want to have schools as safe as possible, in which education can take place,” the minister said.
In a post on Facebook, Sorin Costreie stated that, this week, he had meetings that he considers relevant with students, pupils, teachers and parents.
“We all have to think about the good of the child and combine our forces and knowledge to have a safer and more relevant school. When we talk about education as a whole, the situation is much, much more complex and we have to coordinate, for the good of the child. I tell you that we have drawn many conclusions. With the teachers and with the students we have reached this important conclusion: we have to see each other, we have to listen to each other. These are natural things.
We want much stronger and autonomous schools. The changes concern not only laws, not only the system as such, but also mentalities. And here we have to work together.
The message we want to convey to everyone, our colleagues, students and parents, is that we want to have schools as safe as possible, in which education can take place. We want to do everything we can in this direction,” the Minister of Education said.
