It aims to serve as a catalyst for positive change on a global scale, in partnership with local communities, NGOs, public and private institutions. The Kaizen Foundation together with the “Doctors for Romania” Association are finalizing the renovation and modernization of the section intended for the treatment of serious cases, for children up to three years of age, within the Pediatric Hospital in Pitesti. This initiative represents the first project supported by the Kaizen Foundation in Romania, thus marking its launch in the country.
The Kaizen Foundation was the main partner of the project, contributing 350,000 euros. The Pediatric Hospital in Pitesti is the largest medical unit in the area, serving Argeș, Vâlcea and Dâmbovița counties. More than 30,000 children cross its threshold every year. The project was initiated by the “Doctors for Romania” Association, being the first renovation of this compartment since the establishment of the Pediatric Hospital in Pitesti, 40 years ago.

“A few weeks ago we announced the establishment of the Kaizen Foundation and the start of our first project, the renovation of the Penteli General Children's Hospital in Athens, Greece. We are very proud that our second major grant, this time in Romania, has already materialized. This project motivates us for the future path of the Kaizen Foundation. The smallest patients of the Pediatric Hospital in Pitesti will benefit from it, helping them to fight battles that they should not have to fight, especially in the first years of life. We are grateful to the Association of Doctors for Romania for all the work done and, of course, to all those who contributed to the realization of this project, from the local authorities to the medical staff of the hospital. Through the Kaizen Foundation, we aim to respond quickly and coherently to the current pressing needs of local communities“, stated Panos Konstantopoulos, President of the Kaizen Foundation.
The works were quite complex and covered an area of over 1,100 square meters, the entire space being re-compartmentalized to build a sanitary group in each hall, keeping the same number of beds. Also, all the installations – thermal, sanitary, electrical – were redone, and the walls and floors were tiled according to the regulations in force. The total value of the investment amounted to 700,000 euros.

“Today we mark the fulfillment of a bold vision and a deep commitment to the health and well-being of our children. With the generous support of our partners, we were able to turn this vision into reality. Thus, through joint efforts, we have renovated this hospital floor, which will serve as a sanctuary of healing for our children and their families. The renovation of this hospital floor is not just a simple physical improvement of the infrastructure, it is a symbol of love, care and true commitment to the health and happiness of our children. I can only thank our sponsors, especially our main partner, the Kaizen Foundation, because without their generosity and dedication to our cause, this impressive achievement would not have been possible. We are deeply grateful to them for their involvement and for being part of this journey with us”, a declared Alexandru Costache, President of the Medical Association for Romania.
