Mirela Zeța and Flavia Mihășan are part of the cast of the Musical CHICAGO – one of the longest running shows on Broadway, which arrives in Bucharest on April 6 and 7. The two were selected following a casting in which more than 400 artists participated. Awarded internationally with 6 Tony Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, a Grammy Award, with over 11,000 performances in 36 countries, the Musical CHICAGO will be staged at the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus by director George Costin.
Mirela Zeța, main role in the Musical CHICAGO
Actress Mirela Zeța will play one of the main roles, namely the role of Velma Kelly, a vaudeville singer and dancer who is accused of murdering her sister and her husband.
“Particularly interesting are the touches of such a self-centered, unscrupulous character who would do anything to stay in the spotlight. Velma's exhortation to get “dusty” together in a place full of world and hectic. The musical, as a genre, is a huge challenge for any actor who has not tasted the joy of singing and dancing and playing such a complex show. The mathematics of a moment, its rigor and measure must be thought out and adapted to the space , so that all the ingredients mix in a balanced way and delight the audience. I think the audience is curious about this kind of stage expression, and the name of the show CHICAGO has already entered the history of the musical. We are doing an original version of this show in which we put all our imagination, science, and faith to the test in order to have as many viewers as possible.” said the actress Mirela Zeța.
Director George Costin chose Mirela Zeța for this role, taking into account the experience that the two have accumulated together, for 14 years, when they worked, as colleagues, in plays such as “The Bald Singer” and “The Lesson” by Eugen Ionesco, at the Comedy Theater or in performances such as “Hamlet” by W. Shakespeare, “Titanic Waltz” by Tudor Mușatescu, at the Metropolis Theater, all under the stage direction of Victor Ioan Frunză.
“I really believe in Mirela's artistic personality. She is an artist who unconditionally loves the theater, and her presence in CHICAGO was a natural choice. It's a real spectacle to watch her work. Mirela's creative process is a combination of quiet suffering when she encounters difficulties, with bursts of enthusiasm when she is sure of her artistic options. Her performance in the CHICAGO show will be applauded,” added director George Costin.
Flavia Mihășan created part of the choreography of the Musical CHICAGO
Flavia Mihășan happily joined the cast of the Musical CHICAGO. Alongside Cristina Danu, Flavia Mihășan signs part of the show's choreography. Moreover, she is also a member of the musical's troupe of dancers.

“I have been waiting for a project like this for a very long time. For me CHICAGO is pure joy. From the text itself, the rehearsals where we work a lot and the stage colleagues, to the fact that I personally explore so much of what I wanted. It's an experience in itself and I can't wait for the emotions I'll feel during the show because in addition to choreographing certain moments, I'll also be dancing. This show should be seen by everyone. Somehow, everything that will happen on stage is so current and syncs up almost perfectly with what we all experience on a daily basis. I have had the chance to have many notable experiences in entertainment, but CHICAGO certainly surpasses them all.“, said Flavia Mihășan.
Although the public knows her from Matinalul Neața with Răzvan and Dani, Flavia Mihășan was a ballerina at the National Opera in Bucharest. It's also not his first musical experience. In the past, she also played the role of Lisa in the famous musical “Mamma Mia!”. She was part of the dancing team of the shows X Factor, I know you from somewhere, Next Star.
“It is the third project we are working on together. Flavia is a very special artist, who makes the transition from the television industry to the theater stage very easily. He is a team man. Her experience in theater and television has over time given her a deep understanding of the specific differences between working with dancers and working with actors. They create choreography and dance with the same passion. He has a strong stage presence. She is creative and responsive. A seasoned artist and fighter that I am glad to have by my side in this adventure called CHICAGO.”, said the director George Costin about the collaboration with Flavia Mihașan.
