Roller separators on the most dangerous roads. Where modern systems are installed

In the context in which our country ranks first in the European Union's list of road accident deaths, roller guards could make the difference between life and death. Such systems are installed in areas where there is a high risk of accidents, on DN1, between Brașov and Făgăraș, and DN 13, between Brașov and Sighisoara.

According to Observer News, the system consists of rollers that, at the time of a collision, rotate and return the vehicles to the roadway. It can also withstand contact with TIRs.

This innovative system consists of pillars, which are inserted one meter deep, in the embankment, at a distance of one meter. Intermediate, between them, another supporting pole, in which the rollers are placed“, said Sorin Sasu, project manager.

The car is brought back to the track, due to the fact that these plastic barrels make it ricochet. The cars have less damage and the impact is not as violent as with the metal parapet“, said Tudor Duțu, director of DRDP Brașov.

The authorities are planning to install roller guards on a distance of another three kilometers, on the roads in Brașov County.

Until this year, we installed 1,200 linear meters on DN1 and DN13 in Bogăţii forest. On this sector, between Predeal and Cotul Donului, we are installing another 1,700 linear meters”Duțu added.

It should also be noted that the authorities pay around 3,500 lei for one meter of roller guardrails.

As early as 2019, roller separators were installed at the exit from the Capital towards Târgoviște and on E85.
