The fashion designer Romanița Iovan spoke, in the “At home at Măruță” podcast, about the tragic incident that took place in her home in the Primăverii neighborhood, 19 years ago.
Many people remember, perhaps, the publicized incident from two decades ago that led to the prosecution of the late pilot Adrian Iovan, then the husband of the fashion designer Romanita Iovan. The trial then ended at the Craiova Court of Appeal, which upheld the decision of the Bucharest Court not to initiate the criminal prosecution against Adrian Iovan for manslaughter, after it was established that Iovan was in self-defense when he shot Bogdan Iancu (27 years old ), caught stealing in his house, in October 2005.

The tragic incident was followed by a series of dramas
The incident took place a day after Romanita Iovan had celebrated her birthday. A thief entered their home, and Adrian Iovan reacted with a gun, the thief died, and the shock and speculation related to the incident turned the lives of the Ivans upside down, and all the tension made Romanița Iovan, who was pregnant at the time to miscarry.
“It was the first case of self-defense. We were together in our bedroom, sleeping peacefully, in 2005. God-God opened my eyes. In 2006, one year later, Albert was born. 2005, my birthday, October 3, I find out I'm pregnant, maximum joy. Against this background, on October 3, the next day, on the night of October 4 to 5, at 3 o'clock, on the 2nd floor, you wake up and see a figure standing by the door with your hand on the handle. (…) I woke up when he was on the threshold. I woke up Adrian. He got out of bed, this one ran away, Adrian went after that one“, said Romanita Iovan, quoted by Libertatea.
The fashion designer says that Adrian Iovan did not shoot the man who broke into their home on purpose, but that the weapon discharged accidentally.
“Adrian went to see, took the rifle. The man (the thief) was a thug. He got caught in the gas pipe. Adrian came out of the yard and shot him in the head. He didn't shoot, he accidentally dischargedRomanita Iovan explained this week in Cătălin Măruță's podcast.
