Vasile Scalco is the third Romanian eliminated from the competition, after Ramona Mihaela Manea (cat. 48 kg) and Luciana Maria Petrache (cat. 52 kg).
The Romanian women's team, coached by Constantin Gălbenuşe and Luminiţa Turcin, is composed of Ramona Manea (cat. 48 kg), Lucica Petrache (cat. 52 kg), Gabriela Cioroba (cat. 57 kg), Amalia Ţugui (cat. 66 kg ), Eliza Şopterean (cat. 70 kg), Amalia Niţă (cat. 75 kg), Denisa Manu (cat. 81 kg) and Elena Platon (cat. +81 kg).
Amalia Niţă, double junior champion, won the gold, in cat. 70 kg, at last year's European Youth Championships in Yerevan (Armenia), and Denisa Manu was junior continental vice-champion in 2023, in Ploiesti.
The male team, prepared by Dorel Simion, Ionuţ Gheorghe, Doru Neamţu, consists of George Edmond Maradin (cat. 51 kg), Fabian Stroe (cat. 54 kg), Ciprian Iofciu (cat. 57 kg), Vasile Scalco (cat. 60 kg), Iosif Bandula (cat. 63.5 kg), Arun Tudoroiu (cat. 67 kg), Istvan Szucs (cat. 75 kg) and Matei Nastasiuc (cat. 86 kg).
Arun Nicu Tudoroiu won the silver at the 2023 European Youth Championships in Yerevan, at cat. 63.5 kg, and Stroe and Nastasiuc were European junior champions in 2023 in Ploiesti.
The objective assumed by the Romanian Boxing Federation is 1-2 medals for each batch.
At the 2023 European Youth Championships, from Yerevan, Romania participated with 23 boxers, of which 13 were male and 10 female, and managed to win 9 medals, including 3 gold, through Mihaela Bădescu (cat. 48 kg ), Amalia Niţă (category 70 kg) and Florin Ioniţă (92 kg), 2 silver, through Diana Maria Tănăsescu (category 66 kg) and Arun Nicu Tudoroiu (category 63.5 kg), and 4 bronze, for Crinuţa Andra Nicole Sebe (cat. 63 kg), Maria Gheorghiţa Cimpoeru (cat. 75 kg), David-Angelo Teodosescu (cat. 80 kg) and Dumitrel Badea (cat. 86 kg).
