A non-commissioned officer from the Gendarmerie Directorate of the Municipality of Bucharest, who was waiting for his salary these days, found that more than 1.6 million lei, i.e. more than 300,000 euros, had entered his account. The money had been transferred to him in one day, in 250 installments, according to Gândul.
This while several hundred fellow gendarmes who were waiting for their money could not explain why they were late.
The mystery was quickly clarified: all the 250 salaries that were supposed to reach a group of 250 military personnel of the General Directorate of Gendarmerie of the Municipality of Bucharest were transferred, in as many installments, to a single account.
The gendarme, originally from Gorj, but working in Bucharest, who also received the salaries of his colleagues, made a video showing how much money he had in his account. “What money! How not to come to the gendarmes? One month you buy a Lamborghini, the next a yacht. Look! I'll do it until tomorrow.” he says.
Immediately the Gendarmerie of the Capital was notified and took the first measures. Following the notification of this error, the Gorj gendarme was withdrawn the exorbitant amount of money.
“Due to a technical error in uploading and retrieving an electronic file, the salary rights belonging to a group of military personnel of the General Directorate of Gendarmerie of the Municipality of Bucharest were transferred to the account of a single military personnel of our unit in that group. At this moment, checks are being made regarding the cause of that technical error, being the first time that our unit is faced with such a situation”, said Major Mihai Vornicu, public relations officer, Capital Gendarmerie.
Although a former gendarme stated that in his experience of over 20 years something like this is unprecedented, according to some sources inside the Gendarmerie, there was, however, a similar incident in the past. Then, the salaries of the gendarmes would have been calculated and transferred incorrectly, and the employee from the Financial Service responsible for the situation would have been investigated and sanctioned.
The Gendarmerie of the Capital announced that the employees received their salaries
The General Directorate of Gendarmes of the Municipality of Bucharest has ten brigades of gendarmes, i.e. about 4,000 employees.
Initially, the employees were promised that the payment of salaries would take place on Monday, April 15 at the latest, but later the officials came back and stated that the situation had already been fixed and that checks were being made regarding the cause of that technical error.
