Pricopie: I have the feeling that there is an older brotherhood between Piedone and AUR. What does it say about the favorite candidates at PMB

The rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie, is of the opinion that the doctor Cătălin Cîrstoiu has a chance to win the elections for Bucharest City Hall if he will benefit from the support of the PSD-PNL coalition and the two party presidents, Marcel Ciolacu and Nicolae Ciucă.

Pricopie categorized as wrong the approach to the electorate of the candidate of the Humanist Social Liberal Party (PUSL), Cristian Popescu Piedone, who he believes could have “an older brotherhood” with AUR, led by George Simion.

Regarding the public discussions – “according to sources” – regarding the withdrawal of candidate Cîrstoiu from the electoral competition, I think it started as a strategy supported by several areas, mainly USR and PUSL, with the aim of removing an important candidate from the race. I do not exclude that, in the second phase, other interest groups, including PSD and PNL, may have joined this effort. (…) I believe that IF he manages to benefit from the support of the two party presidents – Marcel Ciolacu, PSD, and Nicolae Ciuca, PNL – until the official submission of the candidacy, and then be supported by the two parties in the campaign , has a chance to win the elections for Bucharest City Hall“said the rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie, for aktual24.ro.

The Rector of SNSPA claimed that the method “public disclosures” regarding unjustified assets and incompatibilities, “discovered EXACTLY at the time of submitting an application, it was used on other occasions as well”. “If these “accusations” were supported by a state institution, I would look more carefully. For the moment, I only see the fuss about a doctor who, I repeat, has a chance to win the elections, if he is left to be evaluated by the citizens, at the polls, not “judged” in the TV studios”, added Pricopie.

Remus Pricopie believes that the friendly attitude of AUR leader George Simion towards Cristian Popescu Piedone could be based on an older connection of the PMB candidate with this formation.

I have the feeling that there is an older brotherhood between Piedone and AUR. I don't have concrete elements, I only see common patterns of communication and the fact that they seem to protect each other. It would be a wrong strategy on the part of PUSL to show up with Simion and AUR, a pseudo-political formation, associated with Russia and KGB manipulation techniques. PUSL does not need this association”, said the rector, when asked if it would be possible for the current AUR candidate to withdraw and this party to support Piedone.

Pricopie: Piedone lives in a kind of 1970s Sicily

The SNSPA rector said, in a brief description of the three favorite candidates in the polls for the Capital City Hall, that Piedone “does not live in the 21st century, but somewhere in a kind of Sicily of the 1970s”, considering “wrong” his work style.

Nicusor Dan has the advantage of being the incumbent mayor: he knows the city's agenda, its problems, he tells us that he already has a plan, he is associated with this position. But there is also the rather big downside of his critics: 70% of those who would come to vote do not support him. (…) Cristian Popescu Piedone also has a great advantage: he communicates publicly, with the press, with great ease. An important thing for a politician, an attribute that we do not find in Nicuțor Dan, but which exists, to some extent, in doctor Cîrstoiu.

Piedone, however, has the label of a man with many ethical and intellectual problems. He himself stated that “there is no need for too much intellectuality at the mayor's office” and we should not suspect him of ethical dilemmas either. This profile has NO way of being acceptable for the people of Bucharest. In my opinion, Piedone does not live in the 21st century, but somewhere in a kind of Sicily of the 1970s. This is his style of work, the way of relating to the people of Bucharest, that is, the wrong one.

Doctor Cirstoiu had a notoriety problem, but it was solved. The counter-candidates helped him, through their “revelations”, to be “on the poster”, on the television screens. (…) Doctor Cîrstoiu does not know Bucharest as Nicușor Dan does, nor does he know how to push a wheelbarrow like Piedone – he is true. But an educated, intelligent man knows how to manage institutions, work with people, form teams”, claimed Pricopie, for aktual24.ro, adding that in his opinion: “if next week Nicușor Dan, Cristian Popescu Piedone and the doctor Catalin Cîrstoiu will officially enter the race, then it is very possible that the future general mayor of Bucharest will be Cîstoiu“.
