The race for the Capital City Hall is intensifying, and the messages of the main candidates are becoming increasingly acidic. “And I'm an underling”, conveyed the candidate of the Humanist Social Liberal Party (PUSL), Cristian Popescu Piedone, through the text on his T-shirt when he submitted his candidacy. “We all know”, answered his opponent, Nicușor Dan, through a similar action.

“Mr. Cîrstoiu told me that I am…, and I said “Je suis Peppa Pig”, indeed. Let's see how many Bucharesters they turned into pigs and how many Bucharesters they turned into thugs“, claimed Cristian Popescu Piedone, on Friday, when submitting his candidacy for the position of general mayor of the Capital, displaying two t-shirts with the messages “Je suis Peppa Pig!” and “I'm an Interloper too”.
The general mayor of the capital, Nicuşor Dan, posted on Facebook on Saturday a photo collage with a photo of Piedone holding a T-shirt with the message “I'm an underworld” in his hand, next to an image of himself in which he appears in a tribune, holding, similar to his opponent, a T-shirt with the message: “#ŞtimToți”.
Incidentally, the message “And I'm a thug”, alluded to a statement by Nicusor Dan, who said that Piedone was supported “by his gang of thugs”.
“I invite you to donate on my page Nicușordan.ro. A very tough campaign is ahead. As unreal as it may seem, there is a risk that Piedone and his gang of thugs will win the Capital City Hall! That's why information is needed, mobilization is needed, that's why I need your support“, was the message sent on April 10 by Nicușor Dan on the TikTok platform.
And the message “I'm Peppa Pig!” he was alluding to a statement by the doctor Cătălin Cîrstoiu about two weeks ago.
“I will also make a personal confession to you before concluding. My child is smaller than Sebastian's (Burduja nr) and every evening he scrolls through the TV, watching scenes from the election campaign. I asked him last night, seeing another opponent what he saw and he told me: Peppa Pig. Of course, it wasn't a direct allusion to someone, it was just a thought transmitted like that“, said Cătălin Cîrstoiu, during a meeting of the Coordination Committee of PNL Bucharest.
And, although Cîrstoiu did not give any name, Cristian Popescu Piedone reacted then.
“I am really pleasantly impressed by the thinking of Dr. Cîrstoiu and the intelligence of the child who I think (…) is the head of the campaign, if he makes him follow and takes notes from the child. I'm happy because I identify with a cartoon character. The poor man sees it day by day, I really pity him, I feel a sense of pity, nothing else to comment on, that's all he can get, that's all a university professor can get, that's education, at least I am what I am, I'm a character, children recognize me on the street that I'm Peppa Pig, that I'm Popeye the Sailor, that I'm Piedone, I'm a wanted character“, said Piedone, on Antena 3.
