Tudor Chirilă criticized the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) which postponed the decision regarding the first round of the presidential elections on December 2, one day after the parliamentary elections.

After a new meeting, which lasted two hours, the CCR decided on Friday, November 29, to postpone taking a decision on the request to cancel the presidential elections. Also, at this moment, throughout the country, the process of recounting the votes, following Thursday’s decision of the CCR, is underway.
The actor and singer Tudor Chirilă, known for his criticism of the authorities, spoke on social networks about the postponement of this decision.
“The CCR, the political tool of the PSD, postponed the decision regarding the resumption of the elections for Monday, December 2 at 5 p.m. If they had announced today (Friday, November 29, ed.) that the 1st round was resuming, people would have voted even less PSD and then they said to take their vote for the Parliament on Sunday and cancel the tour 1 month when they have no prejudices. Very possible scenario“, Chirilă wrote on Facebook.
CCR representatives issued a press release, in which they explained the decision to postpone the adoption of a decision for December 2, at 5:00 p.m.
“On November 29, 2024, the Plenary of the Constitutional Court, considering that the Central Electoral Bureau will submit the results of the reverification and recount of the ballots including the validly cast and invalid votes in the elections for the position of President of Romania from November 24, 2024, decided to adjourn the cases to December 2, 2024, 5:00 p.m.:
– The request to cancel the elections for the position of President of Romania in the first round of voting on November 24, 2024, formulated by Cristian Vasile Terheș (File no. 3671F/2024);
– Confirmation/validation of the election result for the position of President of Romania in the first round of voting on November 24, 2024 (File no. 3670F/2024)”.
