The Permanent Electoral Authority will spend 1.8 million lei for an anti-bribery education media campaign, which will consist of the production of video, audio and online advertising spots, which will be broadcast in the next period. The President of the Permanent Electoral Authority, Toni Greblă, confirmed the information in a televised interview on Friday, stating that the money comes from European funds.

“It is an information campaign related to the technical conduct of the elections. It has nothing to do with political propaganda, party propaganda, etc. The amount comes from a European program, which took place over three years, which included numerous actions, both in the country and abroad, to inform Romanian citizens about how the elections should be organized, how it is desirable to participate with competent people in the various offices that are formed on the occasion of the elections, from the ward office to the Central Electoral Office, precisely so that the elections can be organized as well as possible, with the participation of the citizens, with the information on the fact that voting is an important part of democracy in a certain country, that the elected must have a certain representativeness and, therefore, voting attendance, through information, is desirable in all countries where such elections are organized“, explained Toni Greblă, on B1TV.
The President of AEP emphasized that the program has been started “for a long time”.
“I repeat, it is a program started a long time ago, it is 100% funded by European funds. The European Union, the European Commission supports the correct information campaigns for voters in relation to the fact that they must be done with the participation of citizens, through total transparency, in accordance with good European practices in matters of elections, respecting the principle of ethics, correct information of voters”, added Grebla.
The President of AEP explained that this campaign will involve the running of information clips on several media channels.
“A public procurement procedure was carried out and the clips will run on almost all media channels with a certain audience, they will start as soon as the Government adopts the normative acts, the start of the elections the first time that matters in the future elections is March 12 this one in which the so-called electoral period begins, which will end on June 9. During this entire interval, all these videos will be held to inform the voters, in relation to the voting date, with the way in which voting is done, especially now that we have combined the European parliamentary elections with the local elections, the citizens must know that voting will be done in – a single section, that there will be five ballot boxes in which the five ballots that will be printed on the occasion of the elections will be inserted separately”, explained Toni Greblă.
