According to the publication Just Jared, Jolie filed a personal statement on October 9 in a California court, in which she describes the difficulties she went through after the breakup with the actor.
“The events that led to my needing to separate from my ex-husband were emotionally difficult for me and our children. After we filed for divorce, I gave him control of our homes in Los Angeles and Miraval, without compensation, hoping that this would make him calmer in his dealings with me after a difficult and traumatic time,” the actress wrote.
Angelina Jolie said that neither she nor her children — Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 17 — have visited the Miraval estate since filing for divorce nearly a decade ago because of “its connection to the painful events that led to the separation”.
The actress recalled that Miraval was of special importance to their family: “It was one of the first major investments we made together. We got married there, spent part of my pregnancy there and brought my twins home from the hospital there. To have such a sudden break from my home and my memories was difficult, and for the children it was especially difficult.”
Although Jolie did not go into details about the reasons for the divorce, the international press recalls that the actress filed for separation in 2016, after an incident that happened during a private flight, when Pitt allegedly was verbally and physically aggressive. The 61-year-old actor has denied the allegations.
The lawsuit between the two continues, and the dispute over Château Miraval remains one of the most complex and sensitive stages of their separation.
