Baccalaureate 2026 begins. Who examines candidates for skills assessment tests

Baccalaureate 2026, June-July session, begins on Monday, June 8, 2026. The first test for high school graduates who have registered to take the exam is the evaluation of the linguistic skills of oral communication in Romanian.

The emotions for the high school graduates who signed up to take the 2026 Baccalaureate exams are at their highest, even if they also went through simulations. Monday, June 8, 2026, the exam begins, during the period June 8-9, the first test is scheduled – Evaluation of oral communication skills in Romanian (test A).

The skills assessment tests in the first session (June – July) of the national Baccalaureate exam 2026 take place between June 8 and 17.

The calendar for taking the skills assessment tests:

– June 8 – 10: Evaluation of oral communication skills in Romanian (test A);

– June 10 – 11: Assessment of oral communication skills in the mother tongue (test B);

– June 11 – 12: Evaluation of digital skills (test D);

– June 15 – 17: Assessment of language skills in an internationally spoken language (test C).

More than 130,000 candidates registered for the first session of the 2026 Baccalaureate

In the June-July session of Baccalaureate 2026, more than 130,000 candidates (high school graduates from the current promotion and from previous series) are expected to take the tests, according to the data recorded and provided by the county commissions/ISMB commission for organizing the exam. They take all the tests or, depending on the results obtained in the previous sessions and recognized as such (this is the case for graduates from previous series), only the ungraded tests.

There are two examining teachers for the evaluation of the linguistic skills for the Romanian language, the mother tongue and the modern language, as well as the digital ones. One of them is the teacher who taught the respective discipline in class, and the second – another teacher of the same specialty from the educational institution.

In situations where the condition of another teacher who has not taught in the class cannot be met or in cases where the teachers are incompatibility, the examining teachers will be selected from other schools, the representatives of the Ministry of Education state in a press release.

Tests are not graded as pass/fail

The results obtained by each candidate in the tests to evaluate oral communication skills in Romanian, in the mother tongue and in an internationally spoken language are expressed by establishing the appropriate level of competence, in accordance with the national or European grids (therefore, no pass/fail grades or qualifications are given)”. states the ministry.

And the results of the digital skills evaluation test are also expressed by establishing the level of competence in relation to the European standards recognized in the field and in accordance with the provisions of the exam methodology.

The rule “No satchels, rucksacks, satchels, purses and the like” also applies during the oral exams, candidates having the obligation to leave the mentioned items in the storage room for personal items established by the baccalaureate committee for this purpose.

It is forbidden to use mobile phones, audio headphones, IoT devices, as well as any other electronic means of calculation or communication that allow connection to the Internet/social networks, which could be used to solve subjects, to perform calculations, to communicate with other candidates/assistants in the examination center/centers or with the outside, the representatives of the ministry draw attention. Communication between candidates or with the outside, copying, transmission of materials that allow the copying or exchange between them of sheets from the work, drafts, notes or materials that could be used to solve the subjects are also prohibited.

Candidates who violate the rules of access and participation in the exam are eliminated, regardless of whether the materials/objects were used or not, whether they were introduced by them or by other candidates, by the teaching staff of the commission or by other persons, and regardless of whether they received or transmitted the respective materials”is the warning.

Competence assessment tests, as in the case of written tests. are monitored/audio-video recorded.

Refusal to answer or solve the proposed topics in one of the language and digital skills evaluation tests is considered absent from the respective test.

The written tests of the Baccalaureate 2026, June-July 2026 session, begin on Monday, June 29.
