According to CNAS, the outstanding payment obligations representing medical leave allowances due to natural and legal persons, are presented as follows:

“The total value of the payment obligations includes both the outstanding amounts of the previous years and the new obligations registered during the year, taking into account the continuous flow of medical leave. For the same medical leave, several medical leave certificates can be issued, one “initial” and the other “continued”, both according to the evolution of the respective condition, and as a result of the fact that the certificate is issued only for a maximum duration of one calendar month (for example, for a pregnancy and leaving leave, which has a total period of 126 days).
Thus, not all the days of medical leave are supported from the fnas. In accordance with the provisions of art. 12 of GEO no. 158/2005, the allowances for temporary incapacity for work are supported by the employer, from the first day to the 5th day of temporary incapacity for work, except for the allowances related to the medical leave certificates granted to the insured persons for which the measure of isolation was established, according to Law no. 136/2020.
