CSM Bucharest demolishes Odense in the Champions League, 33-24! Victory and absolute show at the debut of Bojana Popovic on the technical bench

The Romanian champion, CSM Bucharest, started the new year right, winning on Sunday, away, against the Danes from Odense, score 33-24 (15-9), in the 9th stage of Group B of the Champions League.

For Bojana Popovic, the match represented the first on the technical bench of the Bucharest formation, and the debut was an exceptional one.

The most effective scorers of the match for Odense were Rushfeldt (9 goals), while for CSM Omoregie (6), Friis (5) and Brnovic (4) stood out. The team coached by Popovic offered a very solid performance, considered one of the best in recent years.

In the other matches of the 9th stage, the following results were recorded: Ikast – FTC Budapest 27-28, Krim Ljubljana – Sola HK 22-22 and HC Podravka – Brest 30-31. After the first 9 stages, the ranking of Group B looks like this: Brest 16 points, Odense 13, FTC Budapest 12, CSM Bucharest 10, Ikast 10, HC Podravka 5, Krim Ljubljana 5, Sola HK 1.

In the previous group matches, CSM achieved mixed results: 27-28 with Ikast, 31-28 with FTC Budapest, 31-34 with Brest, 34-24 with Podravka, 27-31 with Krim Ljubljana, 30-36 with Odense and 38-30, respectively 34-31 with Sola HK.

The next match for CSM Bucharest will take place on January 18, at home, against the Krim Ljubljana team. In the same Champions League, in Group A, the Romanian team Gloria Bistrița is also playing.

Debut for Bojana Popovic, on the technical bench of Bucharest

CSM Bucharest resumes its journey in the Champions League after the break caused by the World Championship, and today’s match marks the team’s first official match with Bojana Popovic as head coach.

In the previous two championship matches, won by CSM Bucharest against the Zalău and CSM Târgu Jiu teams, Popovic watched the team from the stands, because he has not yet obtained his work permit for Romania.

Before the duel with CSM Bucharest, Odense suffered a close defeat in the championship on Tuesday, losing the derby with Esbjerg, score 29-30. In this match, the Danish team had goalkeeper Althea Reinhardt on the field again, returning from a knee injury.
