“Thus, 80,092 promoted candidates (+ 2,287 candidates compared to the initial results – 77,805 candidates) are registered. Of these, 75,662 candidates come from the current promotion (success rate: 81.9%), and 4,430 candidates come from previous promotions (success rate: 35.8%). Most candidates (14.004 – cumulative promotions) obtained environments located on segment 9 – 9.49, and 33 candidates concluded the written samples with average 10 (+ 9 compared to the first display) ”, the ministry announced.
Almost 40,000 appeals, of these 17,000 in Romanian language
The candidates from the 2025 Baccalaureate, who had the possibility to request the visualization of the appeals, filed almost 40,000 appeals.
“The number of appeals registered in the current session (39,734) is located on a downward trend, compared to previous years (examples: 51,373 appeals filed in the similar session last year, 54,632 – 2023, respectively 49.115 – 2022)”, says MEC.
Of this total, 17.004 appeals concerned notes in the E) a) (Romanian language), 311 appeals in evidence e) b), 11,682 appeals to proof E) c) and 10,737 appeals to proof e) d). In 37,947 of the cases the initial notes were modified (in addition or minus, according to the methodology).
21,803 candidates requested the visualization of the works (7.2% of the total works).
The results registered this year before the appeals are below the last year. According to the data registered in the exam application, the cumulative promotion rate (all promotions) before appeals is 74.3% (76.4% – in the first session of last year).
For the current promotion, the success rate is 79.9% (81.5%: June – July 2024), while for the promotions of the past years the percentage is at 32.1% (31.9%: June – July 2024).
Next, there are, at national level, dozens of high schools in which no candidate managed to pass the exam.
The stakes of the baccalaureate exam became a very important one, many universities selecting their students exclusively based on the results of this exam. In others, the average from the baccalaureate has a high weight, also putting pressure on the graduates.
This year, for the first time, the candidates were able to request to view their work/works before deciding whether to file an appeal. The works were evaluated, as last year, in the digital system, being scanned at the end of each sample, in the presence of the candidates, and loaded in a dedicated platform from where they were later assigned to evaluators from all over the country.
Most of the Romanian appeals were submitted to the Romanian language and literature, the candidates signaling large score differences between the expected note and the one they found when displaying the results before the appeals. The teachers also anticipated a wave of appeals to this discipline.
The second session of the national baccalaureate exam this year will take place between August 4 and 26, being preceded by the registration stage (July 14 – 21).
