The French actor Gérard Depardieu, recently convicted in France for sexual aggression, is facing a new trial, this time in Italy. He is accused of hitting a photographer, Rino Barillari, nicknamed “The King of the Paparazzi”.

The trial is to begin on June 17, 2025 at a court in Rome. Gérard Depardieu is accused of bodily injury after an incident in May 2023, in front of a local on Via Veneto in the Italian capital, according to Euronews.
The 80-year-old photographer claims that the actor insulted, threw an ice cube toward him and hit three times with his fist, putting him to the ground. The incident would have taken place while Depardieu had lunch with a friend, Magda Vavrusova.
“I can forgive the fists, but not the insults to the Italians,” said the photographer for the Italian Agency Adnkronos.
The French actor denies the accusations, stating for the publication at Repubblica that, in fact, the photographer was pushed. Vavrusova’s lawyer claims, in turn, that it would have been “Pushed violently” by Rino Barillari, and Depardieu would have fallen and slipped over the photographer. This incident reminds the moment when the artist acknowledged before the court that he had reached a woman who accused of sexual assault, but claimed that his gesture to take his hips had no sexual connotations. “I grabbed her hips so that I would not slip,” He then said in his defense, a situation that seems to be repeated.
This month, Depardieu was found guilty of sexual assault in connection with an incident spent during the 2021 filming for feature film “Les Volets Verts” (“Green shutters”). The court decided to sentence it to 18 months in prison with suspension. The judges established that Depardieu had a 54 -year -old set, while they were on the film set.
