Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared on Saturday that he will come up with a proposal for the Education portfolio in January, after the PNL leadership will analyze the options for this position.

“Mr. Pirtea is the rector of the Western University of Timişoara and a two-term PNL deputy. We had a discussion on this issue. Minister David’s resignation will become operational and during January we will come up with a proposal after the PNL leadership will analyze the working hypotheses”said the Prime Minister, on Digi 24, when asked if he proposed the position of Minister of Education to Marilen Pirtea.

He specified that Marilen Pirtea’s proposal for the Ministry of Education “it is not nailed down”.

Daniel David announced on December 22 that he resigned from the position of Minister of Education and Research.

David was at the head of the Ministry of Education from December 2024 when he was appointed in the Ciolacu 2 government. Later he was also retained in the executive led by Ilie Bolojan who took office in June 2025.
