An innovative educational program brings to the fore the development of literacy, critical and creative thinking skills for 2,000 students from Galati County. As part of the initiative, 100 teachers have access to modern technologies and practical methods that help them support their students to better understand the texts they read and develop their independent thinking.

The program runs from October 4, 2025 to August 30, 2026 and offers teachers free licenses for the Smart Generation platform. Here, teachers find interactive teaching methods, didactic projects and tools aligned with the school curriculum, but also tests that allow the evaluation of both students’ knowledge and how they apply what they learn in real situations. Thus, teachers can monitor students’ progress in vocabulary, reading fluency, and ability to reflect after reading.
Mentoring and hands-on training
Of the 100 teachers, 50 will follow a practical course delivered by expert teachers, focused on innovative teaching methods, and will benefit from individual mentoring to adapt learning to the real needs of students.
“Mentors who accompany teachers in their learning are practitioners who have validated good practices in functional literacy in the classroom. The results they achieved with their own students are proof that the proposed changes in teaching-learning and assessment leave no student behind”, explains Daniela Stoicescu, President of the InfinitEdu Association.
Summer workshops for students
In the summer of 2026, literacy workshops will be organized in the form of one-week camps. Between July and August, 50 children with the greatest need for additional support will be selected for interactive reading, writing and educational games.
“Participating in summer workshops gives children the chance to make significant progress in literacy and independent thinking skills. The activities are designed to help them develop their vocabulary, improve their reading fluency and increase their ability to understand the text and reflect after reading“, says Daniela Stoicescu.
Teachers will receive educational kits and support from literacy mentors to tailor experiences to students’ real needs.
Building skills for the future
Andreea Nistor, Digital Nation Development Director, emphasizes the program’s impact: “Developing literacy skills, critical thinking and autonomy in learning is the engine that can transform children’s school results and professional successr. Through what we do at Generation Smart, we show that when teachers, institutions and the private sector join their efforts, sustainable initiatives can take shape, which give children the chance to build a visible thinking routine, with a real impact on their future”.
To date, more than 5,000 teachers and 33,000 students from the whole country use Smart Generation, the platform being designed to support teachers in developing critical thinking, curiosity and autonomy in learning.
