Former millionaire Irinel Columbeanu lives his old age in a home in Ghermănești. Affected by several strokes suffered in recent years, it is facing health problems, financial difficulties and episodes of confusion, according to the director of the asylum, Ion Cassian.

“From a physical point of view, there are no problems, even more fat, eat better and anything is on the menu. Irinel Columbeanu gradually adapted to asylum conditions, being used to luxury
“I am glad that he adapted to the asylum and with the program and the food, at first he had some claims, however, according to the lifestyle he had as a businessman with money. He reconciled with the current situation, he no longer lives in the past. But the strokes had them after losing the wealth, because of the uninspired investments. said the asylum director.
However, the former millionaire is not always lucid and has difficulty walking: “There are times when Irinel Columbeanu is not 100% lucid. But he recovers quite quickly. In addition, he goes harder, he has been with difficulty, for several months.”
Irinel is properly cared for and receives rare visits from a few friends
“He socializes with those here, he has a few loved ones, he is not alone. He visits him about two friends, from what he had. He is interested in him Liviu Ionescu and Adiță, who has a podcast. So he wanted to go to America, to see his daughter, on Irinuca, but he has forbidden from the doctors,” Cassian added.
From a financial point of view, Irinel has a pension of about 2,000 lei, insufficient to cover the monthly asylum costs, over 4,500 lei. The accumulated debts would reach about 18,000 lei, but the management of the institution states that they do not intend to expel it.
“We do not kick him out, we do not want this, he will stay here. And his father, Ion Columbeanu, lived in this home, in his last years of his life. And Zina Dumitrescu stayed here, and could not pay the entire monthly tax, collected thousands of euros, and still lived with us until the last moment of life,” said Ion.
