The former millionaire Irinel Columbeanu would have had a plan to obtain income even after he ended up living in an asylum near the Capital, according to the statements made by the designer Mihai Albu, one of his close associates.
Former millionaire Irinel Columbeanu, known for his extravagant lifestyle in the past, now leads a modest existence at the nursing home in Ghermănești, where he is cared for after suffering three strokes.
Invited to the show “Online Story by Cornelia Ionescu”, Mihai Albu revealed that he spoke on the phone with the former businessman after he had arrived in the asylum and that during that time Columbeanu was trying to get involved in a promotion project to obtain income. The designer explained that Columbeanu’s involvement in the project was related to his notoriety, and the collaboration could have brought him additional income.
“I only spoke with him on the phone once. He had arrived at the asylum and he had a program, he was trying to advertise a brokerage platform, probably the person who had that company contacted him for notoriety and then we talked, let’s consult. The idea was if the brokerage works, that was the discussion. That’s all I can tell you, the rest is between us…”said Mihai Albu during the show, writes Click!
Mihai Albu also said that, after moving to the asylum, the two never met in person.
“Look, I didn’t visit him and I admit this, it was a little too much for me to go to the asylum. I spoke only once on the phone, but before arriving at the asylum, together with the lawyer Cristi Sârbu, I invited him and I kept going out with him. I was meeting with Cristi and I said: “let’s invite him too”, especially since he was in a difficult situation. That didn’t matter, because that’s not why I invited him, but friendship”, the designer also said.
