Police measures last year decreased criminality from school units
The criminality in the school environment between 2024-2025 registered a decreasing trend, with 27%, compared to the school year 2023-2024, said the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), Bogdan Despescu, in a video conference regarding the measures taken at the institutional level in the context of the school year, according to AGERPRES.
“58% of these offenses are represented by the component of crimes of strikes and other violence, which, from this point of view, registers a decrease by over 30 percent. I make it that, in the last school year, 91% of the facts we have registered are inside the educational units, with an increase of 1%, compared to 2023-2024” “said Despescu.
A number of offenses with an important weight from those notified represents the theft offenses, respectively 8%, but there was also a decrease of 21% compared to the previous school year.
“From our point of view, the situation shows that the system has worked largely, of course, there is a lot to do and because I want to present all the situations that have not worked, I want to inform you that we would have liked that, according to the National Plan for Combating School Violence, those activities of the working groups have been in a larger number”said Despescu.

In order to prepare the beginning of the new school year, at the level of the Romanian Police, a road infrastructure check is carried out in the area of the educational units.
“Also, another action is the verification of the means of school transport. We want to ensure that all the children will be transported safely. At the same time, the verification of the economic operators who carry out their activity in the proximity of the educational units and the main objective is to ensure that certain products forbidden to the minors are not marketed. Prevention of some fires ”, said the Secretary of State.
From a preventive point of view, under the aegis of the campaign “More care, more safety,” The following directions will be implemented: prevention of violence and bullying, combating criminality in the online environment, preventing drug trafficking, road education, first-aid lessons and emergency interventions, campaigns on reducing school dropout and, last but not least, the activity of promoting career in May.
