“It would have been best for me and my colleagues not to enter the government and not to form this Coalition. At this moment, either we would have had early elections, because we were on the verge of a social crisis, or PSD would have been 5 ahead in the elections, but we decided, in a difficult moment, that it is good to get involved and not let Romania go in a totally wrong direction”explained Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
“I think it's the wrong approach”
The prime minister declared that if the PNL leaves the government, he will submit his mandate.
“If it is a political decision of the Coalition partners to withdraw from the government, President Klaus Iohannis will receive my mandate as prime minister. (…) If we are upset that we no longer have a prime minister, although we had a prime minister for three and a half years, with an electoral score of 20%, and it seems normal to us to continue to have a prime minister ministers or certain decisions, I think it is a wrong approach“, the prime minister also said.
However, Ciolacu added that, from the discussions he had so far with the PNL president, Nicolae Ciucă, such a scenario is excluded, according to Digi24.ro.
