National Class II Assessment, students have received topics with drawings, living averages and simple calculations

The second class students supported this week the evidence in mathematics and the exploration of the environment, part of the national evaluation 2025, and the proposed topics combine basic notions with contexts inspired by real life.

The tests combined exercises of calculation and mathematical logic with environmental and creativity themes.

Inspired exercises from Environment Day

One of the central items started from organizing a World Environment Day School Exhibition, celebrated on June 5. Students received a table with the number of drawings made for four living environments:

  • The forest – 173 drawings
  • Desert – 87
  • Danube Delta – 95
  • South Pole – 102

Children were asked to compare numbers, calculate amounts and solve a division problem, applying concepts in concrete contexts:

Exercise example: How many walls can be covered with 24 desert drawings, knowing that 6 on each wall are placed?

Friendly approach, without pressure

The test was designed to be accessible and familiar, with visual elements and situations inspired by children’s concerns. The duration of the sample was 45 minutes, and the results are indicative, being used by teachers and parents to identify the support needs of each student.

The Ministry of Education stressed that no notes are put, and the evaluation has no stake in classification or admission.

What follows after the Assessments of the second class

The assessments continue for the fourth and 6th grades until the end of May. All tests are elaborated by the National Center for Education Policies and Evaluation (CNPEE), in order to provide an overview of the progress of students in primary and secondary education.
