Neil Lennon set to work at Rapid: 33 players at squad reunion

The team Rapid met on Monday morning at the Constructorul base in order to prepare for the new season, coach Neil Lennon having 33 players available for the first part of the training camp.

From the team presented by FC Rapid on the official website, the news were the players returned from the teams to which they were loaned, Rares Pop donning the equipment of the Giuleşte team for the first time. Some of the players were allowed, they will join the team in the following days.

The squad of the Rapid team announced for the first part of the training session: Marian Aioani, Virgil Drăghia, Adrian Briciu, Codruţ Sandu (returned from Clinceni), Bogdan Ungureanu (recruited) – goalkeepers, Cristian Săpunaru, Paul Iacob, Răzvan Onea, Andrei Borza, Christopher Braun, Cristian Ignat (returned from CS Mioveni), Robert Bădescu – defenders, Mattias Kait, Xian Emmers, Răzvan Oaidă, Jayson Papeau, Claudiu Petrila, Florent Hasani (recruited), Funsho Bamgboye, Eduard Dănilă, Cătălin Cîrjan, Ştefan Pănoiu (returned from 'U' Cluj), Claudiu Micovschi (returned from UTA), Cătălin Vulturar (returned from UTA), Rareş Pop (returned from UTA), Gabriel Gheorghe, Luka Gojkovic (transferred from Javor; forced) , Damjan Djokovic (injured), Octavian Cepoi (injured) – midfielders, Borisav Burmaz, Albion Rrahmani (injured), Omar El Sawy, Alexandru Stan (returned from CS Mioveni) – forwards.

The team from Giulești will leave on Wednesday for the first training camp of the summer, at Curtea de Argeş, where it will prepare until June 19. A day later, Rapid will play the first friendly match of the preseason, against Gloria Buzău, and between June 23 and July 5, the rapid team will move to Slovenia, to Maribor, for the second camp.

Kosovar striker Ermal Krasniqi, transferred to Sparta Prague, and midfielder Alexandru Albu, whose contract with FC Rapid has expired, are no longer part of the team from last season.

In terms of arrivals, Serbian Luka Gojkovic represents the first acquisition of the Rapid team this summer.
