During a summer meeting in Neptun, under the slogan “A competitive Romania in a changing Europe”, Victor Negrescu wanted to emphasize the fact that in the European Parliament the most influential political formation in Romania is the Social Democratic Party, which otherwise, he obtained the most important positions in the European legislature.
“The Social Democratic Party is today the most influential political formation in the European Parliament, with the most MEPs, and obtained, through the negotiations carried out with the support of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, the most important positions in the European legislature. At the European level, the European Social Democrats are the second political group in the European Parliament. The pro-European majority in the European legislature depends on our votes”, Negrescu sent, on his Facebook page.
Also, MEP Victor Negrescu stated that there are all the prerequisites that, due to the position that the PSD occupies among the European social democrats, Romania can also obtain a top position, possibly vice president in the European Parliament, but this depends on the consensus at the national level.
“I am absolutely convinced that thanks to the help received from the European social democrats, Romania will be more relevant at the European level and will also obtain a representative portfolio of European commissioner, with an influential role in the architecture of the future European Commission, and can even hope for a position of the vice-president if there will be a national consensus in this regard”, Victor Negrescu also said.
According to PSD MEP Victor Negrescu, in the presence of over 300 PES activists and coordinators, as well as numerous guests from all over the country, there were debates about the contribution that the Social Democratic Party has in shaping a strong voice for Romania at the European level , in the context of the beginning of a new legislative and institutional cycle at the level of the European Union.
