The Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday that Romania won two gold, two silver and one bronze medals at the 2026 European Physics Olympiad.
Romania’s Olympic team achieved exceptional results at the 2026 European Physics Olympiad, held from June 12-16 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
“Excellent results obtained by the Romanian team at the 2026 European Physics Olympiad: two gold, two silver and one bronze medals”announced on Tuesday, the Ministry of Education.
The results obtained by the Romanian competitors, students at the Bucharest International Theoretical Computer Science High School, are the following:
- Alexandru Condrea, gold medal
- Vlad Bolohan, gold medal
- Andrei Vila, silver medal
- Bogdan Ciocârlan, silver medal
- Teodor Bichir, bronze medal
“The Romanian team at this edition of the European Olympiad was led by Dr. Sebastian Popescu from the Faculty of Physics, “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University in Iaşi, Mr. Dr. Mihai Vasilescu, from the Faculty of Physics of the “Babeş-Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca. Congratulations to the students, teachers and parents, who supported them continuously!“, the ministry officials said.
The 10th edition of the European Physics Olympiad took place in Gothenburg, Sweden, from 12 to 16 June 2026. This edition was attended by students from 41 countries, both from European countries and from other geographical areas of the world, as guests.
At the level of the Ministry of Education and Research, the coordination of the Olympics was ensured by the Directorate of Olympics, Competitions, Partnerships and Extracurricular Education, through Prof. Nagy Elisabeta Ana, MEC inspector.
