The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, will make on Monday, September 30, 2025, an official visit to Timisoara, on which occasion he will participate in a series of cultural, civic and economic events, but also in the works of the first edition “Timișoara Cities Summit 2025 on the extension of the European Union”.

The day will debut at 08:30 with the deposit of a wreath at the “Crucification” monument in Victoriei Square, followed by a visit to the Timisoara Society. At 09:30, the head of state is expected to participate in the official opening of the summit hosted by the Art Museum in Unirii Square, where he will support a live speech.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Dominic Fritz welcomed the president’s participation, stressing that the event will bring to Timisoara mayors, ambassadors and leaders from 15 European countries-both Member States and candidates for accession. “It is a great pride that Timișoara becomes the place where Europe asks its important questions about the present and the future,” wrote the mayor.

The program of the presidential visit continues with stops at the Roman Catholic Cathedral “Sfântul Gheorghe”, The Fourge in Iulius Town and the Rayscape company in the Vox building.

From 2:30 pm, at the City Hall of Timișoara, the head of state will participate in a round table with the business environment on “How can the innovation increase the competitiveness of Romania?”.

In the second part of the day, the president will take part, from 4:00 pm, at the public conference “Europe at the crossroads, security, prosperity and our common future”, hosted by Cinema Timiș. The agenda of the visit also includes cultural moments: visiting the retrospective exhibition “Dan Perjovschi/ Romania – a retrospective 1985-2025” at the Corneliu Miklosi Museum, as well as a stop at the Metropolitan Cathedral, starting at 19:00.

The visit marks both the opening of a large European event and the president’s dialogue with the civil society, the business environment and the cultural community in Timisoara.
