“During today’s discussion with the European Commission, TikTok, ANCOM and AEP, I learned with amazement that the minister was in Dublin, on October 3, at the TikTok headquarters to discuss the preparation of the presidential and parliamentary elections”the CNA vice president wrote on his Facebook page.
He accused Minister Bogdan Ivan of leaving without informing the relevant authorities in organizing the elections.
“> We do not know what mandate he had and what the results were. They were not communicated.
> The ministry he represents has NO prerogative to discuss with social platforms on the topic of organizing elections, especially in the context of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 on digital services (DSA).
> He left for Dublin without informing the National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), without informing the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) and without informing the National Audioviaul Council (CNA), these being the main authorities of the DSA, ANCOM being the very authority designated by law to manage the DSA”claims Valentin Jucan.
He also conveyed that “the minister personally took over the discussions with the platforms, although he was repeatedly assured that he had no prerogative, jeopardizing the natural mechanisms of the functioning of the DSA and, here, contributing to a deficient cooperation between the institutions, with visible effects in the serious situation that we cross it”.
“The politicization of the procedures within the DSA and the politicization of communication with the big platforms are contrary to the principle of the operation of the European regulations”accuses the vice-president of the CNA.
