Revolution in education. Teachers, peer-reviewed and school principal. Salary, adjusted according to results

A number of measures, including the one requiring teachers to undergo annual evaluations on an online platform, are now under public debate. Evaluations will include analyzes of student performance in their classes, as well as evaluations from the school principal and chancellor colleagues.

Depending on the results obtained, the salary will also be adjusted.

“We’re talking about annual standardized assessments, a platform for standardized assessment. Made by colleagues, evaluation made by the director, even evaluation made by the teaching staff herself or himself”, explained Ligia Deca, Minister of Education, according to ProTV News.

Practically, at fixed intervals, their diplomas go through an extensive test that will be elaborated by the Ministry of Education.

The results of the evaluation will indicate an overall picture of the performance of the teacher in the department, which will influence the salary, as it happens in most private companies.

Teachers can remain beginners regardless of age if they do not get their license in education

The periodic review could also result in lower pay for teachers who have entire generations of students fail their exams, despite having amassed diploma upon diploma from attending professional training courses.

The initiative comes as a result of a recommendation received, since last year, from the OECD, the organization that also manages the PISA tests.

For a triage of those without a vocation, teachers will remain beginners, regardless of age, if they do not get their bachelor’s degree in education. This also includes courses in student psychology.
