Romania’s commitments to Ukraine regarding security guarantees will be passed through the Parliament, President Nicusor Dan said, on Tuesday evening, in a press conference held in Paris.
“Romania assumed about the same thing – that is, no troops in Ukraine and logistical support, training for Ukrainian soldiers in Romania or in other European countries in collaboration with the armies of the respective countries, joint armament programs, things you know and this is where we are today and so that today’s document is not a simple declaration of intent. For each of the countries, including Romania, these commitments will be passed through the parliaments”said the head of state, quoted by Agerpres.
The head of state stated that no details will be provided regarding the support of Ukraine.
“When you talk about military operations, you cannot say – a plane will land at 4:30 p.m. and it will have the following equipment, from there they will be handed over from some guns that will pass through customs. This is the reason why many of the things that were done by Romania and by the other countries for Ukraine remained in a confidentiality regime. And now the same. When we get to the Parliament, we will pass generic things, preparation type to the Ukrainian military for this section, but we will not say how many, where“, explained the president Nicusor Dan.
We remind you that the president participated on Tuesday in the meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing”, hosted in Paris by the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, at which the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, was also present.
After the end of the meeting, in a press conference, President Nicusor Dan stated that a military document was defined that provides how the security guarantees for Ukraine will be exercised, how the tasks will be divided and who coordinates.
“On the one hand, a public document was adopted by all the states that participate in this Coalition of the Will. Following the work done by the technical teams, chiefs of staff, security advisors and so on, a military document was defined, which is not public, which provides concretely how these security guarantees will be exercised, what are the responsibilities that each of the participants in this Coalition assumes and who coordinates each of the guarantee elements. Very importantly, as I said, the United States of America is part of these security guarantees, a proof that there is a transatlantic partnership and a message of unity and deterrence in the face of Russia”declared Nicusor Dan.
The purpose of the meeting in France was to outline security guarantees for Ukraine when peace is achieved.
