Second Masters of Classic Evening: Elīna Garanča in an extraordinary concert, Thursday, September 5 at the Palace Hall

On September 5, 2024, from 8:00 p.m., at Sala Paltului, the classical music scene will be honored by the presence of the renowned mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča, in an extraordinary gala concert, together with the Sofia Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of the conductor Michelangelo Mazza. This prestigious event, dedicated to connoisseurs and lovers of classical music, will represent a landmark in the cultural calendar of the year.

The program of this concert offers a veritable ode to lyrical refinement and stylistic diversity, with a selection of works that stand out for their deep emotion and technical sophistication.

From the elegant brilliance of ‘Polonaise’ from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, to the melancholy introspection of ‘Johanna’s Aria’ and the dramatic intensity of Adriana Lecouvreur de Cilea’s ‘Io son l’umile ancella’ aria, each piece is chosen to highlight the depth and the interpretive versatility of Elīna Garanča. Continuing with “Mon coeur s’ouvre à ta voix” from Samson et Dalila de Saint-Saëns and ending with the vibrant explosion of the suite from Carmen de Bizet, the program brings a captivating mix of lyricism, passion and virtuosity, providing a memorable gala evening for participants.

Born in Riga, Latvia, Elīna Garanča quickly established herself on international stages, winning over audiences and critics alike with her voice of rare clarity and depth. A graduate of the Latvian Academy of Music, she began her brilliant career by winning numerous awards, and in 2020 she was honored with the title of “Singer of the Year” at OPUS-KLASSIK for the album Sol y Vida.

Her iconic roles include Carmen in Bizet’s opera of the same name, Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentola and Octavian in Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier.
