“Like any normal person, last night, after I finished with the sheep farmers, I went home and had the bad inspiration to turn on the TV and watch the news. Naturally, all the news started because I didn’t know how to answer the question about my average at the Baccalaureate. Dear people, I took the Baccalaureate 38 years ago. I took it with an average of 7.03. And if I kept looking, I also have a bachelor’s degree from the university, where I took the exam and got a 9 average”said Marcel Ciolacu on Tuesday
The information was confirmed by the Buzău School Inspectorate, in a response sent to Mainnews.ro’s request. According to the institution’s representatives, the spine of Marcel Ciolacu’s diploma is in the archives of the National College “Mihai Eminescu” Lip.
Lost diploma
Asked on Monday during a press conference what average he obtained in the Baccalaureate exam, Ciolacu avoided giving an answer, stating that he did not remember.
“I don’t know at this point. I have a good enough average. Wait, I didn’t even show you the diploma. So I’m going to give you the average and the diploma. I don’t know for sure. I didn’t look. I will look. I don’t think you’ve ever had a prime minister, as a dialogue partner, sitting in front of you every 2-3 days, answering all your questions. So you will definitely have this answer too. I understood that a 544 was made, so I prefer that the state authorities give answers”answered Marcel Ciolacu to a journalist’s question.
Also, last month, the prime minister stated during the PSD Congress that he cannot find his Baccalaureate diploma, but claimed that he has a legalized copy.
He published in the Official Gazette an announcement regarding the loss of the diploma only on February 16, 2004.
“Ciolacu I. Ion Marcel, domiciled in Buzău, bd. Nicolae Bălcescu, bl. (…), ap. (…), Buzău county, informs of the loss of the baccalaureate diploma series D no. 18039/456, issued on July 3, 1986 by the Philology-History High School
