Sociopol poll: Călin Georgescu would win the first round. Which candidate is preferred if he does not participate in elections

A survey conducted by Sociopol analyzed the options of Romanians in two working variants: if Călin Georgescu participates in the presidential elections and if Călin Georgescu does not participate.

Calin Georgescu is maintained in the preferences of the Romanian electorate, in a sociopol survey, conducted between March 3-7.

The survey shows that the sovereignist Georgescu would get 38% of the votes in the first round of the presidential elections of May 2025, followed by Victor Ponta, who is applying independently after self -help from the PSD.

To the question “Who would you vote in round 1 if Călin Georgescu is allowed to apply? ”the Romanians replied:

  1. Călin Georgescu – 38%
  2. Victor Ponta – 16%
  3. Nicușor Dan – 14%
  4. Crin Antonescu – 14%
  5. George Simion – 10%
  6. Elena Lasconi – 8%

The survey also checked the situation in which Călin Georgescu will not be allowed.

To the question “Who did you vote with if Călin Georgescu will not be allowed to be allowed?”, The Romanians replied:

  1. George Simion – 28%
  2. Victor Ponta – 22%
  3. Nicușor Dan – 19%
  4. Crin Antonescu – 18%
  5. Elena Lasconi – 12%
  6. Others – 1%

The volume of the sample was 1000 people and the collection method was based on telephone interviews.

Călin Georgescu’s candidacy in the presidential elections raises a series of questions, being threatened from the front. A decision to invalidate his candidacy can come in the controversial context in which he is, but taking into account the previous Diana Şoșoaca, experts say in this scenario, the sovereigns still have more variants on the table. According to the law, an invalidation of the candidacy is justified only in the case of a definitive conviction.

Sociopol is led by Mirel Palada, the one who was a spokesman for the Ponta government between 2009-2013.
