The Romanian lost in two sets, 2-6, 3-6, against the Czech of Karoline Muchova, the world number 15. The two met last month at the US Open, where Muchova again defeated it, after a much more balanced match.
The Beijing match lasted under an hour and a half. Muchova served a single ace and did not make mistakes at work, while Sorana had four aces, but also three double mistakes.
