The interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, claims that the current mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Băluță, is the favorite in the race for the PSD candidacy for the Capital City Hall.

“On Monday we will have a meeting with the rest of the organization, with Gabi Firea and with the mayors of the sector. Yes, at this moment, according to the polls we have, Daniel is the favorite to be the PSD candidate in Bucharest and he leaves with the first chance”. said Grindeanu.
The statement comes after Gabriela Firea announced that she will not run for the Capital City Hall and will remain a member of the European Parliament until the end of her mandate.
“I’m glad that this time it seems that everyone is pulling for the same bandwagon. And in Buzau and in Bucharest, PSD is fighting to win. There are fewer emotions here, in Bucharest…”Grindeanu added.
Gabriela Firea, about a possible candidacy for the Capital City Hall
The former mayor of Bucharest, Gabriela Firea, published a post on Facebook in which she responds to speculations regarding a possible candidacy for the Capital City Hall and clarifies her political plans.
“Are you running? Are you running? Are you preparing? I get these types of questions every day. To be clear, I prefer to talk about my situation myself. I think I know it better.” wrote Firea.
She emphasized that she intends to continue her mandate as a member of the European Parliament, obtained by the vote of the Romanians, even if commuting between Strasbourg and Brussels, together with her responsibilities as a mother, represents a challenge: “We’re learning every day to deal with this situation. Like all of you, with jobs and kids.”
