The results are not displayed, not communicated or put in the catalog, except at the student’s request. Then, the scores obtained can be equated in qualifications or notes and can be passed in the catalog.

What students had to do in Romanian

In the Romanian language, the reading test included an accessible literary text, but imaginative: a fragment from the “Story of the Seasons” by Maria Dorina Pasca. In this story, the seasons are personified as the four daughters of the emperor Year and the Emperor Day – each with their own features and responsibilities on the months of the year.

The students had to answer questions to understand the text and, in the end, express what their favorite season is and why. The requirement followed not only the ability to read carefully, but also to express a personal, logically argued point of view.

How the sample was carried out

The test started at 10:00 and lasted 45 minutes, 15 minutes more than in previous years. The students received the topics in printed format and completed the answers directly on the brochure.

What was given to the mother tongue

For students studying in the languages of national minorities, the test of reading in the mother tongue took place in parallel. The topics were adapted to each language and targeted the same type of skills: understanding a literary text and expressing an opinion.
