The Minister of Education, Daniel David, sent a clear message to the parents, asking them not to encourage meditations. “Do not exaggerate with this mechanism anymore, that the ministry simply does not impose such a thing, does not favor this, on the contrary ”, he said.
The minister explained that meditations must be a rare practice, being an exception rather than a rule. “The meditations must be an exception, must be well controlled and ethical, who with whom he does meditations and in terms of fiscalization ”added Daniel David for TVR2.
The statements of the minister came in the context of a study by the Save the Children organization, who showed that, in recent years, the parents’ expenses for the education of children have tripled, and most of these expenses are intended for meditations. On average, parents spend about 10,000 lei annually for additional training, afterschool or teaching materials.
The minister stressed that the Ministry of Education must focus on improving the activity in schools, so that students do not depend on meditations to get good grades. “What I can do and I will make sure they do this, to create the context in which teachers do their job in class so that children do not need meditations to take good grades if they participate in the classroom and if they want to learn well“Said Daniel David.
Finally, the minister stressed that the problem of meditations is not one that can be controlled by the Ministry of Education, but urged parents to reflect on how they support this phenomenon. “But I repeat, it is not a problem of the ministry as much as a problem, I do not want to throw the responsibility there especially that I have a good collaboration with the federations of parents, but I ask them to think how this phenomenon that I can not control ”, Daniel David concluded.
