The "sickness" tax ends up on the table of deputies

The opposition submitted three simple motions. Among them, one against the interim Minister of Education, Ilie Bolojan

February 4, 2026

On Wednesday, February 4, the opposition submitted three simple motions to the Senate, targeting the Government’s activity in the fields of European politics, defense and education.

The announcement regarding the motions was made on Monday by the leader of the AUR senators, Petrișor Peiu.

“We will submit a motion of censure if he undertakes his responsibility on that project, including the fact that he undertakes his responsibility for the 8th time, if I am not mistaken, in the 8 months since this Government has existed“, said Petrișor Peiu

Through these actions, AUR strengthens its position of opposition to the current Executive and criticizes the way in which the Bolojan Government manages both the reform of the administration and the activity of some key ministries.

The first simple motion, which criticizes the way the Government represented Romania’s interests in the European decision-making process regarding the EU-Mercosur Agreement, was submitted in plenary by the leader of the AUR senators, Petrişor Peiu.

The motion signed by 47 opposition senators is entitled “The EU-Mercosur agreement: how Romania engages in a major strategic agreement through a clandestine mandate, without analysis and against its own interests”writes TVR Info.

The second simple motion, signed by 41 senators, submitted, in plenary, by the leader of the PACE – First Romania group, Dorin Petrea, is entitled “The progressive minister Radu Miruţă compromises the credibility of Romania’s defense policy through irresponsible statements and lack of strategic analysis”.

The third simple motion against the interim Minister of Education, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, is also signed by 41 senators and was submitted by the PACE – First Romania senator, Ninel Peia.

The motion is entitled “Education between failure and abandonment. How students are turned into budgetary collateral”.
