The rector of the SNSPA claims that the AUR has no resources for local: It follows the KGB-style propaganda and manipulation manual

The rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie, claims that the AUR party, led by George Simion, “follows the KGB propaganda and manipulation manual word for word”. Pricopie states that the boycott threatened by Simion would actually be a solution to avoid the “shame” that “they have no one to propose on electoral lists” and does not rule out “that in the future Parliament AUR will have a smaller weight than the current one “.

declared the rector of SNSPA, Remus Pricopie, for aktual24.ro

The rector of SNSPA emphasizes that the method of holding elections cannot be changed only a few months before the local elections and claims that the leader of the AUR “he doesn't understand that extremism cannot be democratic”, accusing him of thinking like a guy “legionary-fascist”.

George Simion talks about “extreme but democratic gestures”, which is nonsense, a contradiction in terms. Simion, a legionary politician, does not understand that extremism cannot be democratic. It has a profoundly wrong relationship to the concept of democracy and to the actions that fall within the democratic sphere. Basically, George Simion proves once more that he has nothing to do with democracy, that he thinks and acts deeply undemocratically, i.e. a legionary-fascist type of thinking, specific to the interwar period“, said Pricopie.

As a result of the statements of some former members of the AUR, who claimed that it is “a party without members”, since a clear record of members and dues would not be kept, Pricopie believed that the boycott threatened by Simion would actually be a solution to avoid the “shame” that “they have no one to propose on electoral lists”.

It is very possible that this is so, because AUR does not exist as a political formation at the level of all localities in Romania. AUR is, as you very well said, “the party without members”, therefore they have no one to propose on electoral lists. (…) The only town where they are trying to play a game of intimidation is Bucharest. Therefore, instead of being in the embarrassing situation where everyone sees that you have no one to go with in the local elections, you scream as loud as you can that the process is undemocratic and that you made the “extremist but democratic” decision to boycott the elections , by non-participation”, the rector mentioned, for the cited source.

Remus Pricopie believes that “sthe only elections in which the AUR could have some result are the European elections”, where we have only one constituency and one list of candidates. “In the rest, AUR will lose in the local and presidential elections, and these defeats will demobilize its supporters for the parliamentary elections, from December 2024” the rector of SNSPA also said, adding that “does not exclude” “that in the future Parliament (2024-2028), the AUR will have an even lower weight than the current one, of approximately 10%“.

The president of AUR, George Simion, declared on Tuesday that his party is considering boycotting the local elections, citing the need for two voting rounds.

Political scientist Cristian Pârvulescu stated for “Adevărul” that AUR is only trying to put on a little “show” because the formation “will not get good results”.
