The situation of the number of voters for the partial local elections of December 7, 2025. How many people have the right to vote prohibited

The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) will inform the public, on Saturday evening, of the number of voters for the partial local elections of December 7, 2025.

“The total number of voters registered in the permanent electoral lists is 2,193,680 of citizens. The total number of voters registered on the complementary electoral lists is 24,988 of citizens of the European Union with the right to vote who are in the records of the General Inspectorate for Immigrants”the AEP press release states.

According to the Permanent Electoral Authority, the total number of people who have the right to vote is prohibited 21,393 citizens.

“Annex No. 1 includes the total number of voters from the permanent electoral lists for the partial local elections of December 7, 2025, by age category and according to environment (urban/rural). Annex No. 2 includes the total number of voters from the permanent electoral lists for the partial local elections of December 7, 2025, related to each locality”the statement also states.

AEP states that the Electoral Register has been updated both through data imports from the General Directorate for the Records of Persons and from the General Directorate of Passports, as well as through deletions carried out by authorized persons from the town halls.

According to Law no. 208/2015, with subsequent amendments and additions, the Electoral Register is a national IT system for recording and updating the identification data of Romanian citizens with the right to vote and the information regarding their rounding at the polling stations.

The electoral register is structured by counties, municipalities, cities, communes, for Romanian citizens with domicile or residence in the country. The persons authorized to carry out operations in the Electoral Register including Romanian citizens domiciled or residing in the country are the mayors or the persons designated by the mayors, by provision, according to the law.

Where local elections are held on Sunday, December 7

The partial local elections of December 7, 2025, are organized for the position of general mayor of the municipality of Bucharest, the position of president of the Buzău County Council and some mayor positions in 12 localities in the country.

The mandates assigned and validated following the election of December 7, 2025 will be exercised until the next general local elections.

Voting starts at 7 o’clock

Voting in the 1,771 polling stations organized for this election begins on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 07:00 and ends at 21:00.

“The data regarding the turnout will be able to be viewed in real time, with the opening of the polling stations, by displaying on the website of the Permanent Electoral Authority – https://prezenta.roaep.ro, for each polling station, the number of voters who came to vote by category of age, background and gender”states the Permanent Electoral Authority.

The results recorded in the minutes drawn up by the electoral offices of the polling stations will be available on the same page, immediately after their conclusion and digital transmission.
