The prosecutors have drawn up a 32-page file with accusations against the well-known actor and all the evidence will be analyzed for 10 days. If Alec Baldwin, 66, is found guilty, he faces up to 18 months in prison.
The incident took place in October 2021, on the set of the movie “Rust”, when Alec Baldwin handled a gun that should have been loaded with blank bullets. One of them was, however, as real as can be, so that it led to the death of the director of photography Halyna Hutchins and injured the director of the film, Joel Souza.
Although he maintained every time he was asked that he was innocent, investigators say that “lied shamelessly” and “repeatedly changed his story”
about how things went. In addition, prosecutor Kari Morrissey says that the way the actor behaved on the set of the movie “Rust” contributed to “safety compromises”, ended with the death of a man.
She claimed that Alec Baldwin yelled and swore on set, sometimes for no particular reason, and that his inability to manage his own behavior contributed to the safety failures.
“To watch Mr. Baldwin’s behavior on the set of “Rust” is to watch a man who had absolutely no control over his own emotions and absolutely no concern for how his behavior affected those around him. Witnesses testified that this very conduct contributed to the safety compromises on set.” write in the file.
Also, according to the same source, during his first days on set, Alec Baldwin asked the crew and gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, “to work faster”, and “his haste and pressure on the crew on set certainly compromised safety.”
Prosecutors also criticized Baldwin’s public statements after the incident, accusing the actor of trying to influence public opinion, but also of “changed his story repeatedly”
and “lied shamelessly”. That’s because the actor denies pulling the trigger.
An FBI examination concluded that the gun wielded by the actor could not have fired that shot without pressure on the trigger. So, the actor “he blatantly lied“, changing their version of the facts to avoid any responsibility, the prosecutors stated in the 32-page file.
“In his first police interview, Alec Baldwin did not claim that the gun went off by itself, nor that Halyna Hutchins told him to point the gun at her. These elements are part of a “narrative” that the actor later developed in the American press. they also revealed.
