The former owner of the Poli Timișoara football team was paroled four years earlier than the sentence he received, after serving eight years behind bars.
Convicted for tax evasion in the RAFO file, where he was accused of having damaged the Romanian state with a total of almost 170 million euros, along with two other accomplices, Marian Iancu is being executed by ANAF.
The tax office decided to put up for sale three properties owned by the businessman, estimating the recovery of around 7.3 million euros.
Iancu constantly appears in the public space after his release from prison, especially on sports shows.
Marian Iancu was sentenced to 12 years in prison after it was proven that he and eight other people had damaged the state budget with 1.356 billion lei. Iancu was forced to return 150 million dollars and 18 million euros to the state. His brother, Octavian Iancu, as well as his former associate, Constantin Mărgărit, also ended up behind bars, receiving 10 years in prison each.
