The gendarmes were mobilized on the beaches of Eforie to keep the tourists away from the rough water. Despite the warnings, two people entered the sea and were fined.
Although lifeguards hoisted the red flag and warned tourists not to enter the sea, several people ignored the ban. The Constanta gendarmes intervened to prevent tragedies from occurring, and two people were fined 500 lei each.
On the beaches of Eforie, the gendarmes were mobilized to support the lifeguards, after the conditions in the sea led to the raising of the red flag, which prohibits bathing.
Four gendarmes from the Constanța County Gendarmerie Inspectorate operate in the resort beach area, using an ATV and a UTV. Their mission is to inform and warn tourists about the dangers they face if they ignore the signs on the beach and enter the water.
However, some tourists chose to ignore the lifeguards’ warnings.
During the action carried out on Sunday, the gendarmes applied two contraventional sanctions for not complying with the ban on entering the water. The fines were 500 lei each, the total value of the sanctions reaching 1,000 lei.
The authorities advise tourists to take into account the meaning of the flags on the beach and to follow the instructions of the lifeguards.
“We recommend tourists to respect the meaning of the flags displayed on the beach and the indications of the lifeguards. The red flag is not a simple recommendation, but signals a real risk, and entering the water in these conditions can put your life in danger. The Constanta gendarmes will continue to support the lifeguards and carry out actions for the safety of tourists on the coast“, the Constanța Gendarmerie sent.
