TVR, huge expense for the Paris Olympics: the amount paid for broadcasting rights

2024 is the year of sport, with two major events taking center stage this summer. First, the European Football Championship will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14. Then, the Paris Olympics will begin. The World Sports Day is scheduled for July 26 – August 11.

TVR will cover the Olympic Games in Paris with a large team

These two events also have a great media stake. Because they will generate audiences and ratings during the summer. Euro 2024 will be shown on Pro TV, while JO 2024 will be on TVR. According to, the public television channel paid a fortune to acquire the TV rights for the sports show in Paris.

Specifically, we are talking about the amount of 2.1 million euros. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) collected this amount from TVR. Which represents only a part of the expenditure related to the 2024 Olympic Games! Because other large sums are needed for the TVR studio in Paris, plus the team of journalists who will cover the 2024 Olympics on the ground. Also, TVR paid the sum of 870,000 euros to take “take away” and the rights for the Winter Olympic Games that took place in Beijing in February 2022.

As usual, TVR will have a huge team on site for the 2024 Olympics. We're talking about 13 people going to Paris. From where the public television will have, in total, 280 hours of transmissions.
