Vasile Mănăilă, a former champion with Craiova University, ceased life at 62

Former defender Vasile Mănăilă, champion of Romania in football with Craiova University in 1991, ceased life on Tuesday, June 10, at the age of 62, the club in Banie announced.

“Sad news: Today (June 10 no), Vasile Mănăilă, the former defender of the University of Craiova, champion of Romania in the white-blue shirt and winner of the cup. May God rest in peace!“, The University of Craiova said on its Facebook page.

Vasile Mănăilă was born in Borduşani, from Ialomiţa county, on November 22, 1962. Football began at the Far Children’s Center and Junior, and later wore the white-blue shirt in Liga 1 during 1981-1984 and 1991-1995.

He was a champion of Romania with the University of Craiova in 1991, and for the national team of Romania he played a match, in 1991. Mănăilă won with the University and a Cup of Romania (1991), in addition to a final lost in 1985.

Since 2011 he has worked as a coordinator or director of the children and junior groups of the Hagi Academy, transmits the Constanta Lighthouse.
