Section 1 of Dex12 is, moreover, the first start, the works being inaugurated by Liviu Dragnea. The first builder, the Italian company Tirrena Scavi, delayed the works a lot, so in 2023 the Ministry of Transport terminated the contract, the work being reassigned to an association of companies: Ozaltin Insaat Ticaret Ve Sanayi As – Strade Bauunternehmung SRL – Visio Construction Works SRL
According to Grindeanu, at the present time, there are almost 1,196 kilometers of high-speed road in Romania. “The large transport infrastructure is essential for the further development of the Romanian economy and therefore the investments must be continued“, the minister also wrote on the social network.
The Craiova – Pitesti expressway has a total of 121 kilometers. Section 2 was opened as early as 2022, section 3 – from the end of 2023, and sections 1 and 4 were opened to traffic on November 28 and 29, 2024.
In order to be able to travel fully on the high-speed road between Craiova and Bucharest, it is necessary to complete the connection between DEx 12 and the Bucharest-Pitesti highway, and currently only 12 km remain to be executed.
