Voice of Abandoned Children, protest at the Adoption Authority: “Justice for the victims!”

The Voice of Abandoned Children Association is organizing a protest on Women's Day itself, in front of the headquarters of the National Authority for Child Rights and Adoption (ANPDCA). The dissatisfaction comes from the institution's lack of action regarding the activity of a former director.

The Voice of Abandoned Children Association is organizing a protest following the lack of action by the National Authority for Child Rights and Adoption (ANPDCA) in relation to the way a former director handled the situation of the abandoned children he was supposed to look after and care for.

In the context of a society that has a moral and legal duty to protect the most vulnerable members, our community notes with regret that requests for transparency and intervention in cases of suspected complicity in the neglect of abandoned children have met with unexpected and inadmissible resistance. These requests come after serious suspicions related to the way Mr. Nicolae Gorunescu managed the children's situation in his capacity as former Executive Director DGASPC Sector 6“, said Vișinel Bălan, president of the Voice of Abandoned Children Association.

Balan points out that the presentation of these issues to the National Authority for the Protection of Children's Rights and Adoption did not generate the active and engaged response that he expected. He also specified that he was informed that there is no legal framework for addressing these specific issues. This not only disappointed him deeply, but strengthened his conviction that he must act to make the cries for help of the victims heard.

The association calls on every person aware of the seriousness of the situation to participate in a peaceful demonstration, prepared to take place in front of the headquarters of the National Authority for the Protection of Children's Rights and Adoption, in Bucharest, on Gheorghe Magheru street no. 7, on March 8, 2024, on Women's Day, starting at 10:00 a.m., to support the victims, mostly women, and to demand justice and transparency.

Under the slogan , we are determined to expose the indifference and negligence that allowed injustices to persist“, Vișinel Bălan also said.

He urges those who want to participate in the protest to come equipped with banners and placards reflecting the call for fair justice and to join this act of solidarity with unwavering determination.

If necessary, the members of the association are ready to extend the protest and set up tents in front of the institution, maintaining a constant presence until their voices are heard and appropriate measures are taken.
