On January 15, the Ministry of Education recommends that school management allow teachers, regardless of the subject they teach, to carry out activities to promote the values of Romanian culture. An example of an activity is the presentation and discussion of a relevant quote from Romanian literature.
What does the recommendation of the Ministry of Education sound like?
“In the context in which on January 15 we celebrate the Day of National Culture, thus marking
the anniversary of the birth of the national poet Mihai Eminescu, Ministry of Education and Research
recommends the organization, at the level of pre-university education units, of some activities
educational for the promotion, among students, of cultural values, the Romanian language and
respect for cultural heritage”he writes in the address signed by the Secretary of State Sorin Ion and sent to all schools, high schools and inspectorates.
At the same time, the document also specifies that the ministry encourages school management to “allow teachers who express their availability in this regard, regardless of the discipline taught, to carry out, on January 15, during class hours, activities to promote the values of Romanian culture”.

Recommended activities
The activities recommended by the Ministry of Education are the following:
- allocating a moment of 5-10 minutes, dedicated to reading a Romanian literary text;
- expressive reading of some poems;
- presenting and discussing a relevant quote from Romanian literature;
- reflection activities on the importance of Romanian culture and language;
- the brief presentation of some personalities of the Romanian culture.
In the document sent to the schools, it is also specified that these activities are voluntary.
