What Babasha says
After mixed reactions at Coldplay's concert on Wednesday night, where he was invited to perform, Babasha took to TikTok to say “handcuffs are only infamous because of racism”.
“I'm not in a position to hold discussions just being in the spotlight right now, I don't want the world to think I'm taking advantage of that, and I'm not in a position to talk about that, I leave it to people to judge the situation as they see fit. But what I have to say is that Coldplay wanted to do a moment with a Romanian artist for their concert (…) and they looked in the music charts and saw me. They personally contacted my agents, I suddenly woke up and I don't know how many of you would have refused such an opportunity. Because we are talking about a completely and completely different level and regardless of all the booing in the world I would still have accepted because something like this is once in a lifetime. Just so you know I even had a sound check before, that's normal, with Chris Martin personally and he really liked me (…) I expected mixed opinions, but I didn't expect it to be that bad (…) I'm just a 22-year-old kid who really works day and night for a dream. Regardless of the fact that I sing manele, for those who don't understand this matter, manele is infamous only because of racism, not because of the music itself (…) because forget that foreigners appreciate us, only Romanians don'tBabasha stated on Tik Tok.
“A “manea” sung by a guy who performed accompanied by the lead singer of Coldplay was booed by an entire stadium for several minutes. Of course, after the event, those who booed go to eat a saorma with everything and drink a beer at Hanul Drumețului. Well, this is Romania in all its splendor!”sociologist Gelu Duminică commented on the scandal of the moment, on Facebook.
